Amapondo Children's Project
Started in 2001 and registered as an NPO in 2005, Amapondo Children's Project is diverse and ever growing. We are situated in the heartland of the former Transkei area of South Africa, a stunningly beautiful natural environment instilled with local vibrancy. Our philosophy is to recognize the capacity around us and facilitate through community led initiatives: employment, empowerment and exchange. We involve both national and international volunteers, encouraging growth through cultural exchange.
We currently support:
- Mthumbane Cèche = 78 kids, 2 dedicated mamas, 40sqm and amazing amounts of love.
- Kulani Craft Project, an amazing skills training initiative.
- Port St.John’s Animal Welfare Initiative, helping to educate and ensure the health (sterilization…) of our local street dogs.
We are open to volunteers and community members designing their own programs which we work alongside to ensure their sustainability. We do also have areas always needing extra hands, so let us know your skills and areas of interest, and we can see where you would fit in.
