Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa (FTTSA) is about ensuring that the people whose land, natural resources, labour, knowledge and culture are used for tourism activities, actually benefit from tourism. FTTSA is the world’s first and still only Fair Trade certification programme specifically for tourism. FTTSA certification is a process that examines social, economic and environmental best practice in tourism – seeking a balance of all three principles of sustainable development. FTTSA has a diverse portfolio of tourism products – encompassing accommodation, activities, attractions and now volunteer tourism programmes. FTTSA certification guarantees that FTTSA-certified products are committed to operating in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.
