We like to think that at this stage we know what you want. These are some of the things we have learnt:

So we offer choices.......

There's a lovely lively bar which has certainly seen some great revelry in its time. Our stunning tropical pool is a buzzy spot in the summer months when a gorgeous poolside cafe offers decidedly decadent refreshments (including divine pizzas!). And every day we have some sort of free activity so you can chill and meet the rest of the gang.
And for you, the quieter ones, Buccaneers is a haven of tranquility and natural delights - quiet beach walks or canoe trips up ther Chintsa river and a secret bird hide on our own dam

We've created a wide range of accommodation and activities to suite these different needs.

We are always being asked why, with one of the best coastal settings in South Africa, we haven't moved into the sophisticated 5 star league. Quite simply - we love what we do. We prefer the whole laid back friendly style, the fact the only first names count and the sense that we're all kindred spirits. We love our type of travellers - friendly, curious about every aspect of our beautiful country, tolerant of some of the shortcomings of the rural scene (power failures!) and so enthusiastic and well informed about life in general.

Things to do...

From the moment you arrive our incredible reception staff will explain to you how Buccaneers works - the places where there's lots happening and the quiet spaces where nothing happens. Our activity list is lengthy so plan for a lengthy stay!

The really good news is that every day there's a free activity designed to get you together with the rest of the crew. This could be a sundowner type affair (with free wine!!) like a volleyball session or a booze cruise or a trip to ther giant sand dune. The free breakfasts every Sunday morning have become famous!
Then there's the beautiful tropical pool, the canoes for the lagoon, and of course the stunning Chintsa beach with its 15km of pristine shoreline and rockpools full of fascinating sea life.

Beach horse rides

Feel the salt spray on your face and hear the sound of the hooves pounding the surf as you ride with a highly professional guide who will choose for you a horse best suited to your riding skill - from beginners to expert riders.

Game drives / Safaris

Spend a few hours in Inkwenkwezi Game Reserve right next door to Buccaneers going on a guided Land Rover safari. See the big four (lion, buffalo, rhino, and sometimes leopard) as well as many different antelope species and zebras and giraffes in this beautiful private reserve.

Transkei day trips

Most days, numbers and weather permitting, there's a really cool trip which takes you thruogh the Southern Transkei combining adventurous bits (jumping off cliffs into rock pools), learning about Xhosa culture (you'll see traditinal village life and visit a sangoma if you wish) and seeing some of the amazing natural features prevalent along this coast.

Craft shop

Buccaneers has a really good little craft shop featuring an array of wonderful handmade items which make superb gifts for you to take home.

Massage and beauty

Tucked away in the trees below the swimming pool there's a little beauty bungalow where you can get a professional massage or beauty treatment. Get gorgeous for the beautiful Chintsa beach with a facial, waxing or tinting or treat yourself to a massage - soothing smoothing de-stressing de-vine.

Chintsa bike rides

You'll be guided through the beautiful hills and valleys around Chintsa on good quality mountain bikes. For moderate to strong riders.

Chintsa surf school

You'll not only learn the basics of surfing, you'll hear all about the dynamics of the sea - waves, currents, rips and tides. Sometimes one of the large schools of dolphins which lives along the coast will join the session. Our equipment is of a high quality and our instructors are well established in the fine art of "catching the big ones".
