What We Offer

Pony Trekking

Two Day tour

Day 1:This tour is quite concentrated as we need to fit a lot into a short time. It starts from Sani Lodge at 9am. and travel s to the 4x4 track up the Sani Pass and into Lesotho. From Sani Top, we drive about 50km into Lesotho, over Black Mountain Pass (at 3240m, the second highest road pass in Lesotho) and down the Sehonghong river valley, through rugged scenery. We arrive at Molumong Lodge , about 50km into Lesotho by lunch time.After lunch we there’s  an afternoon ride to the village of Libibing where we stay the night in traditional rondavel accommodation.
Day 2: Breakfast, then back via a different route to Molumong. After lunch start the return journey stopping for a drink at Sani Top Chalet, known to be the highest pub in Africa. Return to Sani Lodge by around 5 pm.

Eastern Lesotho Tour

This Experience can be done as either a 2 day or a three day tour. The three day option allows you to get totally immersed in the community and culture and you get into the pace of life in the mountains.

Our program there will include

• Meeting the family and being shown around the home area

• Traditional Basotho dancing and singing

• See traditional Basotho artefacts

• Stories from Thabiso

• A visit to the local primary school

• A walk in the area and a look at a typical highlands village

• A visit to a local ngaka (traditional healer)

• Seeing local agriculture in action

• On the 3 day trip, there is also time for a visit to the nearby highlands town of Mokhotlong.

An optional horse ride hire horses from local villagers. Cost is R30pp per hour plus the cost of the guide which is R150 plus R30 per hour. The guiding rate is shared by those who do the ride.

Mountain Biking

The mountain terrain is ideal for keen bikers to explore, offering gentle hills with spectacular scenery, to the challenge of the famous Sani Pass into Lesotho, which is an ascent of 900 metres between the South African and Lesotho border posts.

So, if it's the rush of adrenaline you're after or just a relaxing ride, bring your own bikes and set off from Sani Lodge for an unforgettable experience.
