Outreach and Volunteering Programs
In 2005 African Heartland Journeys launched Volunteer Africa 32° south as the outreach and volunteering department of the company.
Mike and Sean, for the past 12 years, have been involved in a broad range of community development initiatives, tourism capacity building and educational support programs. In response to the growing demand for their involvement on the Southern Wild Coast, VA32 was formed.
VA32° has experienced amazing success within the ambits of conservation and rural education. 2006 saw approximately 170 volunteers move through the greater Chintsa area with the conservation initiative being managed by our project partners on a private game reserve and the Wild Coast Schools’ Project expanding to four under resourced schools.
2007 has seen the inclusion of several new volunteering initiatives which will primarily target humanitarian needs, notably health support through skilled medical practitioners and secondly addressing living standards of local communities in peri-urban, township, environments.
Project and Program Categories:
- Education - Wild Coast Schools, ICT Developments - Wild Coast Schools, Environmental Impact Projects
- Conservation – Wild Coast Conservation Initiative - Chintsa Horse and Rehab Project
- Humanitarian – From Township to Village - Medical Support to the Wild Coast
