Jungle Monkey Backpackers Affiliations

The heart of Pondoland is nestled between mountains of indigenous forests and unspoilt beaches. This is where you will meet the friendly Pondo people in town and in their traditional villages.

This is also where you will find Jungle Monkey, overlooking the mouth of the mighty Umzimvubu River. Take a ferry across the river to Long Beach (free) or take our shuttle to 2nd beach. In either direction, there is lots of fun to be had.

You will always be entertained in our lively cocktail bar and restaurant. Not only does it have a pool room and swimming pool, it also has a fully equipped band stand for jamming sessions and regular live gigs.

Relax on your own sunny deck when staying in one of the double safari tents or sleep easy in our comfortable doubles and dorms.

How to get to Jungle Monkey: Take the Baz Bus or bus to Mthatha. Call ahead to book a shuttle from Mthatha. Or take a boat shuttle from Coffee Bay. If you’re driving follow our signs from town.
