Remote and Private Luxury cottages/freeform Bedouin tent villages in Cederberg Wilderness Area for free spirited individual traveler
Citrusdal is situated 175km from Cape Town and is the gateway to the Cederberg range. The golden valley is home to soft fruit, citrus, vineyards an rooibos farmers. The village is the ideal place to centre yourself to explore the west coast, Cederberg Wilderness area and the Namaqualand during spring when the wild flowers are blossoming. The Nature Reserve is also covered in wild flowers during this time of year. The Nature reserve is 5 km from Citrusdal village which is at foot of the Cederberg Mountains overlooking the golden valley of citrus farming.
Activities on the reserve include Rock climbing, Mountain biking, canoeing and hiking. In town you can play golf, squash, tennis, or go for a ride on a quad in the mountains.
The Reserve do provide dining. The Menu is based on a South African culinary experience which are either served at the cottage or on the reserve at the dam under a Bedouin freeform tent. Please do view our menu and book in advance, because we can only accommodate 10 guests at a time. We use fresh produce, herbs and best quality meats. Fruit Cocktails and picnic hampers is also available.
The rustic experience of this FYNBOS reserve includes:
- Jacuzzi on veranda and hot outside shower overlooking the golden valley (optional R25 extra per day)
- Hammocks on the veranda
- Interesting rock formations and rock art (bushmen paintings)
- Breathtaking views of the Olifants river valley and majestic Cederberg mountain range.
- Hiking and mountain bike trails & Farm Dam
- Small variety of wildlife & Birds (over 150 have been recorded)
- Springtime carpet of flowers and proteas
- A Bore hole provides the reserve with sparkling clean drinkable spring water
- The cottage also has a small herb garden for your cooking needs.
The Peace & Serenity of this Reserve is only surpassed by the magnificent sunsets. Enjoy the hot outside shower, swimming in the river, bird watching, mountain biking on the farm roads and trails, rock climbing on the surrounding sand stone formation rocks and hiking, or just relax in a hammock and enjoy the sounds of nature. Or you can drive into town and enjoy round of golf, squash or tennis.
Cottages: Tolbos, Boegoe & Waboom
These 3 completely private luxury self catering cottages are situated on the Wolfkop Nature Reserve at the foot of the Cederberg mountain range.
The 2 roomed cottages have 2 single beds in each room with a sleeper couch situated in the living room. Cotton Bedding is provided. The cottages also have a indoor fire place, with outside barbeque area on veranda fully equipped kitchen as well as TV 1,2,3 and e-tv and air-conditioning.
An outdoor braai facility is situated on the verandah overlooking the picturesque valley.
Directions to Wolfkop Nature Reserve
Arriving from the N7 which is the road from Cape Town to Namibia into Citrusdal, turn right at the first 4 way stop in the village into the road that leads to Keerom. Drive for 5 km till you arrive at the Wolfkop Nature Reserve gate which is on the left side of the road. Kobus 0834525538 or Wethu 0711916511 will be greeting you.
