Pension Idube is a charming early-1900s home in the leafy suburb of Auckland Park, only 4 blocks from Melville’s trendy 7th Street with its cosmopolitan restaurants, bars, coffee shops, antique stores and craft shops. The Pension was one of the first backpackers hostels in Johannesburg and has been around for over 14 years. Our fantastic guest reviews attest to legendary service at very affordable rates.

What a fantastic discovery!

Pension Idube certainly lives up to the promises on its website - it is a lovely guesthouse in Melville, with a charming owner-manager who delivers a fantastic service.

It is an upmarket backpackers/ guesthouse - with great facilities - the breakfast area, the lounge area, a fantastic swimming pool and most rooms have private bathroom facilities. It is close to the night life of Melville, the University of Johannesburg, WITS and the business hub of Auckland Park and surrounds.

Breakfast is included in the rate and is more than sufficient for a continental style spread. It is very secure, super friendly staff and above all else, very affordable.
