Buccaneers is considered by many to be one of the best backpackers in South Africa. Spread out over 8 hectares of wild coastal forest and right on the stunning Chintsa beach, the location is superb. For many travellers, it’s a place where friendships once made, become lifelong, and memories, warm and beautiful like Africa itself, are etched for life.
There’s loads to do around Chintsa - brave the new nine-line zipline, take a guided game drive, go for an elephant encounter or quad bike through the 4000 hectare game reserve on our doorstop. Learn to catch a mighty wave at our surf school or go for horse ride along the 15km beach. There is also a cycle trip to visit Mama Tofu at the local Xhosa village.
Buccaneers has a lively pub with festive dinners; lunches at the palm-fringed swimming pool; excellent breakfasts and the legendary Xhosa, Mexican and Indian dinner parties.
Sleep to the sound of the crashing surf in a dorm, double or beautiful en suite, or set yourself up in our new campsite secluded in the Buccaneers valley.
FREEBIES
- Canoe up the Chinsta river
- Free Sunday buffet breakfast
- Thursday's trip to Bulugha School for a heartwarming Xhosa concert
- On all the other days, there's a free fun end of day activity with a glass of wine (or 3!)
