We are situated in Durban north between the city centre and Umhlanga Rocks and are close enough to everything you could possibly need: restaurants, banks and bars. We are a ten minute drive from the bustling city centre.

From North (Swaziland etc): From N2 South take exit #182 Umhlanga/Gateway. Turn left... See universal.

From South (airport, JHB, PE etc): From N2 North take exit #182 Umhlanga/Gateway. Turn right. See universal. Universal: onto M41 towards Umhlanga/Gateway. Feeds onto M4 to Durban. Take 2nd exit - Ann Arbor/Glenashley. At the T-junction, right into Promenade. We are number 17.

We were staying here for three restful nights.
The personnel is very friendly and polite.
The triple room we got for 700 Rand per night was very nice and clean, it has a balcony, a bathroom and the mattresses are good, the beds big enough.
Very recommendable!
We didn't sleep in the dorms, but from looking at them, they looked much nicer and cleaner than most of the dorms we have seen out there!
La Lucia is a very calm and clean area and the backpackers is situated just at the beach. (I should mention that you can't go swimming in the sea there, because there are no life guards and the sea patrol is quite a bit away from there.)
