Bohemian is not anarchy. It is art. The words ‘bohemian’ and ‘Observatory’ are synonymous. So, expect unconventional serendipitous ‘art’. It’s everywhere in Obz: how we live, the shops, the pubs and also in the place where you chose to stay: Bohemian Lofts. That’s why ‘bohemian’ is in our name. Expect non-corporate serendipity. Travel, don’t tour.

Bohemian Lofts is perched on Lower Main Road, overlooking buzzing sidewalk cafes and restaurants below. It is also close to Groote Schuur Hospital and the UCT Medical School.

The backpackers is housed in the most beautiful old character building. Each afro-chic room (we have dorms, doubles, twins and en suites) is named after a suburb in Cape Town and offer all the necessary luxuries for the independent traveller. The balcony is THE best place to watch the sunrise over Cape Town and to survey the bustle on Lower Main Road below. Then you can easily join the buzz and finally retire to your comfortable room for a well-earned rest.
