Living in Khayelitsha township is about more than just shacks, pap and kwaito. It’s about neighbours who are friends, and kids playing in the street. This is your opportunity to live our culture. We’ll take you from the local market right through to Khayelitsha’s own Lookout Hill, and back to Ekasie to join the kids in their afternoon games. The Mlungu visitors always amuse them. End your township experience with a nice dinner and let us exchange cultures. We’re just as excited to learn about you, as you are to learn about us.

Directions to Ekasie Backpackers
On the N2 from Cape Town towards Somerset West take the Mew Way off ramp. Turn right at the top into Mew Way road, pass a set of robots (traffic lights), and pass 3 streets after that.
On the 4th street named Ntlalo turn left, then first right into Luleka Street and then first right again into Benyano. You'll find us at the end.

Share your thoughts and experiences with Ekasie Backpackers. But please be polite and solve your problems first by getting in contact with Ekasie Backpackers.
Husband and wife team, Luba and Noma, opened Ekasie Backpackers on 26th April, the eve of freedom day, 2005.They do not transport cars full of tourists, staring pitifully out of the window; rather they walk tourists right into the heart of their home, the township of Khayelitsha, to experience heritage and culture first hand. During our time in Khayelitsha, I am compelled to tell you that we were not victims of theft, we didn’t experience racism and we didn’t witness any violent behavior.
